Co-curricular activities
Department organizes co-curricular activities to provide a comprehensive range of learning opportunities. Co-curricular activities promote student learning through means of non-formal educational modes including poster presentation, campus events, technical paper presentation, model exhibition, collage making and experiential learning activities.

- Aditya, Harini, Koushalya, and Shalini M Secured Second Place in the Inter-College Project Exhibition for the project titled "Integrated Bioreactor" at Techno Utsava 2024: A Student Project and Research Symposium organized by Acharya Institute of Technology, Bengaluru on May 24, 2024, and won a cash prize of Rs 8000/-.
- Sharavanaa and Lavanya Received the Best Innovation Award in Project Expo 2024 held at MVJ College of Engineering on April 28, 2024
- Navana R L, Suvechha Mandal, and Vyshnavi Sreenivas Secured First Prize in the internal Smart India Hackathon presentation in 2024.
- Mythri NAttended a 2-day offline workshop on Vaccine Technology in association with Pravega, IISc Bangalore, and obtained a Certificate of Completion on 24th August 2024.

- Lavanya S M (1OX21BT016) and Shravana Ganesh Daptardar (1OX21BT041) Presented a paper titled “NatureSweep: Harnessing Petrozap for Sustainable Cleanup” in Project Expo 2024 organized by MVJ College of Engineering and received the honor of the Best Innovation Award. They also presented a paper entitled “Petrozap Bioremediation Kit for Hydrocarbon Degradation” in the three-day National Conference on "Climate Resilience and Sustainable Development" held during 22nd–24th November 2023 organized by Karnataka Science and Technology Academy (KSTA), Dept. of Science and Technology, Govt. of Karnataka at Bengaluru.

Funded student projects in the academic year 2021-2022
- Integrated Remediation Strategy for Repurposing of Industrial Wastewater is funded by VTU, focuses on developing a comprehensive strategy to treat and repurpose industrial wastewater. Students Afrah Raihan, Debleena Bose, Jemima Saji, and Mohasina Anjum P are leading the research.The project is guided by Dr. Manjunatha B K and Dr. Valarmathy K.
- In vitro and In silico Evaluation of Anti-Quorum Sensing of Ipriflavone on Pseudomonas aeruginosa, VTU-funded project investigates the potential of ipriflavone to inhibit quorum sensing in Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The research is conducted by students Samuel Prince, Sanjay B R, Tejas H N, and Tejas M. Dr. Manjunatha B K is mentoring the team on this microbiological study.
- Bioremediation of Carcinogenic PAH-rich Effluent from Petrochemical Industries project aims to apply bioremediation techniques to treat effluents contaminated with carcinogenic polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). It is undertaken by Pavan D N, Hemamalini R M, Sai Shruti Kannan, and Vilas Rao Shinde, with support from KSCST. The project is guided by Dr. Manjunatha B K and Prof. Divakara R.
